Richard was born 1084/1090 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England. Richard was the son of Gilbert Fitzrichard de Clare 2nd Earl and Adeliza de Clermont. Richard died April 15, 1136 near Abergavenny, Wales, at age 50. He was christened in Clare, Suffolk, England.

3157 ii. Adeliza de Meschines was born in Hrfrds, England about 1094. Adeliza died 1128 at age 34.

He married Matilda Maud FitzRobert about 1141 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. Matilda was born about 1120 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. Matilda was the daughter of Robert Earl of Gloucester "de Caen" and Mabel Sibyl Maud FitzHamon Countess. Matilda died July 29, 1189 in Chester, Chestershire, England, at age 69.
