131. William⁶ Lander (William⁷) was born in Milford, Otsego Co, New York December 30, 1816. William died June 1891 at age 74.

He married Eliza Ann Litch. Eliza was born December 24, 1819. Eliza died January 24, 1887 at age 67.

It should be mentioned that two Lander brothers, probably cousins of William, were somewhat famous explorers. Richard Lemon Lander (1804-1834) and John Lander (1807-1839) were natives of Cornwall, England and sons of an inn keeper at Truro. On behalf of the British government, the brothers determined the course, and source, of the Niger River in Africa in the year 1825.

William Lander and Eliza Ann Litch had the following children:

132 i. William⁵ Lander.

133 ii. Ann Lander.

134 iii. Marcellus A. (dick) Lander was born 1842. Marcellus died 1917 at age 75.

+ 74 iv. Orsa Jane Lander was born September 22, 1845.

135 v. Frank R. Lander was born March 4, 1861. Frank died July 29, 1929 at age 68. He was, at least in 1923, the County Surveyor of Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
