38. Anderson Cunningham (Andrew)⁴ Catherwood (John James⁵) was born in Belfast, Ireland January 6, 1870. Anderson died December 22, 1929 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, at age 59.

He married Martha Salter October 3, 1894 in Barrow-in-Furnace, Lancashire, England. Martha was born March 3, 1873 in Barrow-in-Furnace, Lancashire, England. Martha was the daughter of James Salter and Esther Marsden. Martha died November 23, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, at age 69. He learned the wood patternmaking craft, and moved to Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, to work in a large ship building company there. The ship builders is now the Vickers Co., Ltd., a maker of not only ships but submarines and planes as well. For a short time, he and his wife owned and operated a small shop selling birds and seed. After a break-in and robbery, the store was sold and the decision was made to go to America. Anderson took two of the boys, Andrew and William, and sailed on the ship "Freezland", landing in New York. They then travelled by train to Pittsburgh, where some of his wife's family lived. After finding work, he sent for his wife and children still in England. They came on the ship "SS Arabic", which was later sunk in World War I. Known later in life as Andrew Catherwood, he became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in the Common Pleas Court, Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, Ohio on December 14, 1916.

Anderson Cunningham (Andrew) Catherwood and Martha Salter had the following children:

39 i. Esther Agnes³ Catherwood. She married Edwin Follick.

40 ii. Marion Ruth Catherwood (living status unknown).

41 iii. Amy (Caroline) Catherwood was born in Barrow-in-Furnace, Lancashire, England 1895.⁽²¹⁾ She worked in Washington, D.C. during World War I, then moved to California. During World War II, she joined the W.A.C.S. was sent to England, France, and Switzerland. She received a Citation of Merit for her work in France during the Battle of the Bulge. She later returned to California.

42 iv. Andrew George Catherwood was born in Barrow-in-Furnace, Lancashire, England 1899.⁽²²⁾ He married Armeline Basinas in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio.

43 v. Christina C. Catherwood was born in Barrow-in-Furnace, Lancashire, England 1901.⁽²³⁾ She married Robert Elmer Preston.

44 vi. William Catherwood was born in Barrow-in-Furnace, Lancashire, England March 18, 1904. William died August 23, 1976 at age 72.

+ 16 vii. Lucinda Mae Catherwood was born March 28, 1906.

45 viii. Reinford Salter Catherwood was born in England 1909. Reinford died February 3, 1962 at age 52. He married Mary (unknown).

46 ix. Edna Kay Catherwood was born February 18, 1911. Edna died March 1989 in California, at age 78. She married Donald G. Harper May 30, 1936.
