He had been manager of the Arnprior Brass Band. Orville Kerr said he saw a picture of him playing a big drum. Lived on Hugh Street, Arnprior.

• Death, 8 jan 1889 11:15. Fell from roof of Arnprior Town Hall and died 10 jan 1889 at 3:45.

• Funeral, 12 Jan 1889. Brass bands of neighbouring towns played the death march at his funeral (Kerr bible).

William married Ellen F. Shaw Sutherland, daughter of James Sutherland and Agness Forgie, on 20 Jan 1880 in Pakenham, Ontario. (Ellen F. Shaw Sutherland was born in 1864 in Arnprior, Ontario, died on 21 Jul 1945 and was buried in Arnprior Cemetery.)
