- Cornelia Chism was born and raised near Versailles, Morgan County,
Missouri. As a young lady, she attended the Rose Crain School forGirls
at Tipton, Missouri. While she was there , she met Lucas Andrew Hood,
They were united in marriage in March 1861. During the Civil War,
Cornelia did fancy work for the soldier's wives. She and Lucas
established themselves in farming northwest of Tipton, Missouri. They
were respected members of this commnity during their lifetime. Hisfather
was a doctor, Dr. Andrew Lucas Hood. Her sister, Sarah, married John
Kurley Hood, Lucas Andrew's brother.
