Robert Ogden Bradley 1910

17. Robert Ogden⁴ Bradley (Ogden⁵, Dr. Roswell⁶, Captain Jabez⁷, Jabez⁸, George⁹) was born in Portland, Chautaqua Co, NY January 2, 1852. Some sources say he was born in the town of Pomfret. ⁽¹⁾ Robert died April 19, 1942 in Silver Creek, NY, at age 90. His body was interred in Evergreen Cem., Hanover Township, New York.

He married twice. He married Emma (unknown). He married Mary Campbell Wilson November 25, 1886. Mary was born December 17, 1856 in Hanover, New York. Mary⁽²⁾ was the daughter of James Wilson and Philena Bailey Davison. Mary died January 10, 1939 in Silver Creek, NY, at age 82.

Robert's will was probated December 9, 1942 in Chautauqua Co, NY. He is remembered as being frugal, but not tight, and as a stern man. He believed in being a good provider, and in the value of owning real estate. His children would only be allowed to go to school when there was no work on the farm. He never had electricity or indoor running water, though he eventually did get gas lighting.

It was common for men to come to the farm looking for a place to sleep for the night, or for some work. He would not refuse a man sleeping quarters in the barn, but would only hire men with narrow hips (apparently, he believed they would not be lazy and would work hard). ⁽³⁾

Robert Ogden Bradley and Emma (unknown) had the following children:

19 ii. Alice Bradley. She married Louis Bradley. Louis was born January 29, 1877. Louis was the son of Chester Bradley and Melissa Hyde. Louis died September 8, 1961 at age 84.

Robert Ogden Bradley and Mary Campbell Wilson had the following children:

20 iii. Ralph Ogden Bradley was born October 3, 1887. Ralph died October 5, 1947 in Hanover Township, New York, at age 60. He married Helen L. Tubbs. Helen was born July 5, 1894 in Randolph, NY. Helen died April 9, 1979 in Silver Creek, NY, at age 84.

21 iv. William Wilson Bradley was born in Silver Creek, NY December 14, 1888. William died April 23, 1980 in Provost, Alberta, CD, at age 91. He married Heather Bernice Georgine Richardson July 27, 1929 in Consort, Alberta, CD. Heather was born March 13, 1908 in Chatham, Ontario. Heather was the daughter of George Stuart Richardson and Mary Mae Rosina Shantz.

22 vi. Jessie Elizabeth Bradley was born in Silver Creek, NY November 14, 1891. Jessie died December 3, 1986 in Hanover Township, New York, at age 95. She married Frank Taylor June 5, 1919. Frank was born March 11, 1891. Frank died March 30, 1980 in Chatauqua Co, New York, at age 89.

23 vii. Howard Bradley was born in Silver Creek, NY November 14, 1891. Howard died September 1892 in Silver Creek, NY, at age unknown.

24 viii. Mary Margaret Bradley was born September 25, 1894. Mary died February 21, 1971 in Torrington, CT, at age 76. She married Fred Bramann.

25 ix. Samuel Allen Bradley was born February 18, 1897. Samuel died November 6, 1977 at age 80. He married Marguerite Green.
