242. Gideon⁸ Marlett (John⁹, Thomas¹⁰ Merlet, Abraham¹¹ Marlatt, Abraham¹², Gedeon La Plante¹³ Merlet, Josias¹⁴ Merle)⁽¹⁸⁹⁾ was born January 14, 1747/1748. Gideon died December 13, 1820 at age 73. Some sources (and possibly the tombstone) say he died December 13 1822. His body was interred December 1820 in Jackson Cemetary, Naverino, NY.⁽¹⁹⁰⁾ According to Herbert and Mildred Marlette's report, the tombstone inscription reads: "Died Dec. 13th 1822 Aged 73 years and 10 Mo."

He married Mary Quackenbush. Mary was born March 8, 1753. Mary died November 25, 1825 at age 72. According to the Onondagas (County, NY) Historical Association's Volume of Revolutionary Soldiers, page 295, comes the following: Gideon Marlett, Ens. in 1st Company (Capt. Jacob Gardiner) of 3rd Battalion (Col. Fredrick Fisher) of Tyron County Militia (Brigadier General Nicholas Herkimer). At that time, Tyron County New York consisted of what presently are counties Fulton, Montgomery, Ontario, Herkimer, Otsego, Tioga, and Hamilton.

Gideon Marlett and Mary Quackenbush had the following children:

243 i. John⁷ Marlett was born January 4, 1772.

244 ii. Jeremiah Marlett was born August 20, 1775.

245 iii. William Marlett was born December 1, 1777.

246 iv. Peter Marlett was born March 4, 1779.

247 v. Abraham Marlett was born October 7, 1781.

+ 185 vi. Mary (Polly) Marlett was born April 15, 1783.

248 vii. Cornelius Marlett was born September 3, 1786.

249 viii. Susanna Marlett was born June 13, 1789.

250 ix. Margaret Marlett was born August 20, 1791.

251 x. Thomas Marlett was born May 16, 1794.

252 xi. Isaac Marlett was born December 31, 1797.
